If the opponents have possesion and the play moves to the other side then the striker dropping off would shuffle across to the right side and the central striker will remain central. ![]() The striker who was central now needs to go and support the striker who has the ball. They should be ready and alert to either come short and receive the ball to feet or be ready to spin and run into the channel. If the ball is in our defensive 3rd then i would want one of the strikers central where ever the opponents has set their defensive line and the other dropping off on the same side the ball is located. For this reason i will give guidance how i would like my strikers to be positioned depending on the area of the pitch the ball is. The stratagey of the coach may depend on the players skill sets. This is because you don't want to be occupying the same space and get in each others way but you want to be able to work together as a pair to press and try to win the ball in a co-ordinated way. It is very important to have a good understanding and connection with your strike partner. You will find that the coach may have a specialised instruction of where they want the player to be. ![]() With centre forwards/strikers there are less rigid out of possesion zones but more of an emphasis on pressing and winning the ball back.
